Churches give to crime victims
MOULTRIE — Two Moultrie churches recently donated supplies to child victims of crime.
The youth group with First United Methodist Church collected a bag of fun stuff to entertain the children while they wait to testify in court.
“Having games and snacks sure helps when a child is nervous and waiting to testify,” said Karen Ambrose, victim advocate with the Colquitt County District Attorney’s Office.
The Rev. Galen Mirate and the church family at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church bought new school clothes and supplies for the children.
“There were cards enclosed with little messages,” Ambrose said. “The children read each card aloud.
“They came over yesterday and went through all their new things. They hugged and thanked me as our eyes filled with tears. I told them these gifts were not from me, but from people who love God and want to extend this love to them.”
