Family, Friends Day
The Grant Chapel AME Church, 318 West Central Ave. N.W., will celebrate its Family and Friends Day on Saturday, Sept. 18, starting from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a fellowship breakfast. It will continue with a Saturday Night Praise service at 6 p.m. featuring local and visiting choirs. On Sunday, Sept. 19, worship service will start at 11 a.m. with guest speaker the Rev. James Banks of Thomasville, Ga. The Rev. Jennifer Donalson-Baker is pastor.
Reunion
The descendants of Samuel Jackson, CSA, of Pulaski, Ga., and children Henry Harrison and John H. will hold their reunion on Saturday, Sept. 25, starting at 10 a.m. It will be located at Reed Bingham State Park in group shelter #3. Tifton pediatrician named associate dean for SW Ga. campus
Dr. C. Granville Simmons, an established educator and pediatrician from Southwest Georgia, has been named campus associate dean for the Southwest Georgia Clinical Campus of the Medical College of Georgia, the state’s public medical school. Simmons starts his new duties June 11.
