Thefts total $15K, including car

MOULTRIE — A local business employee and 10 Colquitt County residents reported they were recent victims of property theft. Items reported stolen included cash, hand tools, purses with their contents, sheet metal, a riding lawn mower, a pistol and a car.

The value of the items reported stolen was about $15,142. Those who reported being the victims of property theft were:

• Tiffany Tatum, of Seventh Avenue Northwest, reported a thief stole $100 cash between 9:45 p.m. and 11:54 p.m. Tuesday. Tatum gave officers the name of a male suspect.

• Diane Bridges, of West Boulevard, reported a thief stole her Toyota Avalon between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 6:50 a.m. Wednesday. The value of the stolen car was $6,000.

• Deothia Hall, of Seventh Avenue Southeast, reported Wednesday a male acquaintance borrowed a Panasonic CD player but never returned it. The value of the stolen CD player was $250.

• An employee at Barber’s Restaurant on First Avenue Southeast reported a thief stole a piece of sheet metal and a sign Tuesday. The value of the stolen items was about $400.

• Simone Peterson reported a thief stole her purse, containing her debit card, her license, a food stamps card and $6 cash, while she was at Wal-Mart on South Veterans Parkway and made two purchases using her debit card between 10 a.m. Monday and 1:18 p.m. Wednesday. The value of the stolen items and amount of the fraudulent transactions was about $183.

• Frank Perkins, of Peachtree Road, reported a thief stole $200 cash from his wallet between noon Tuesday and 7 p.m. Wednesday. Perkins gave sheriff’s deputies the names of two female suspects and a male suspect.

• Johnny Warner reported a thief pried open a door to his storage building on 21st Avenue Northeast and stole a Craftsman tool box with tools inside, a Craftsman air compressor and a truck bed tool box between 6 p.m. Saturday and 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. The value of the stolen items was $5,819.

• Mary Fowler reported a thief stole a Briggs & Stratton riding mower with a mulch kit from her house on Coy Cox Road in Omega between June 12 and 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. The value of the stolen lawn mower was $1,550.

• Steve Taylor, of Southlake Drive, reported a thief stole an H&R .22-caliber pistol and change from his unlocked Ford F-150 truck and stole a business credit card from his wife’s Lexus RX350 between midnight and 7 a.m. Wednesday. The value of the stolen items was $406.

• Jolene Burdette, of Lakeshore Drive, reported a thief broke out a passenger window of her Honda Accord with a hammer and stole a Belk’s bag, containing a child’s outfit, between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. Wednesday. The value of the stolen outfit was $20.

• Kelly Singley, of Lakespring Drive, reported a thief stole her Dooney & Bourke purse and her daughter’s purse, containing keys, two checkbooks, two debit cards and three Social Security cards, from her Chevrolet C1500 truck between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 7:18 a.m. Wednesday. The value of the stolen items was about $214.

Moultrie Police

• An employee at Ameris Bank on South Main Street reported Tuesday two known male customers forged and cashed fraudulent checks using Destiny Industries’ name. The amount of the fraudulent checks was $3,831.

• An employee at Aluma Panel on Sunset Circle reported someone spray painted graffiti on a wall and burned a piece of paper, damaging concrete, between 6 p.m. Friday and 7:17 a.m. Tuesday. Damage was $150.

• Horace Albert reported someone used his stolen bank card to withdraw $107 cash from his bank account between 1:46 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. Tuesday.

• Tamika Edwards, of Fifth Avenue Southwest, reported someone poured bleach on her couch, love seat, lounge chair and pillows, broke the screen to an RCA 42-inch television and poured ketchup on it, poured bleach and ketchup on her bed and mattress, knocked a hole in the wall and cut several pairs of jeans between 10 a.m. and 2:24 p.m. Tuesday. Damage was $2,698.

• Joyce Hopkins reported Tuesday she sent a money order to a known female in Las Vegas Friday to purchase a Mini Cooper car for her grandson she found on eBay but has not received the car. The amount of the stolen money order was $3,835.



Sheriff’s Office

• William Welch, of Tallokas Road, reported someone forced open his front door, damaging the door frame, between 7:10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday. Damage was about $200.

• Veronica Prosser reported someone broke out a side window of her house on Honey Bear Road in Norman Park between June 26 and 4 p.m. Tuesday.
