St. James Freewill Baptist Church will not have services on Sunday, Oct. 3. They will be at conference. Elder Joe Powell is pastor.

Blessing of the Animals

St. Margaret of Scotland Episcopal Church, located at 1499 South Main St., will have a Blessing of the Animals service on Saturday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m. There will be refreshments afterwards. They will also be collecting donations of dry dog and cat food, kitty litter, metal bowls and gallons of bleach for the Colquitt County Animal Shelter. For more information, call 229-616-116.

The board reversed its decision on Wednesday, but tragic events will prevent Ryan James from joining his classmates at Mack Tharpe Stadium.

Tifton pediatrician named associate dean for SW Ga. campus
Dr. C. Granville Simmons, an established educator and pediatrician from Southwest Georgia, has been named campus associate dean for the Southwest Georgia Clinical Campus of the Medical College of Georgia, the state’s public medical school. Simmons starts his new duties June 11.
