MOULTRIE —
A Moultrie man was apprehended Thursday after he allegedly grabbed his girlfriend by the neck and prevented her from calling 911.
Starvinsky Lashaun Farrell, 28, of 713 First St. S.W., was charged with simple battery (family violence) and hindering an emergency phone call.
A Moultrie police officer was called to a house on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at 2:59 p.m. Wednesday about a domestic dispute. The officer spoke with Amanda Difilippo, who stated she and her boyfriend, identified as Farrell, had been involved in an argument.
Difilippo stated she told Farrell he was acting differently and asked if he was “on something,” and he got mad and got into an argument with her. During the argument, he allegedly grabbed her by the neck and picked her up off the floor while holding her by the neck and arm. She stated she was holding her 8-month-old son during the incident.
When Difilippo got away and attempted to call 911, Farrell allegedly grabbed her cell phone and broke it. She tried to leave the house several times, but he allegedly grabbed her and pulled her back and shut the door, preventing her from leaving.
When Difilippo was able to report the incident, Farrell had left the scene and was not found again until Thursday afternoon. He was placed under arrest at a house on West Central Avenue and was taken to Colquitt County Jail.

Wayne Littles: From Moultrie to the moon shot … and beyond
The year J. Wayne Littles graduated from Moultrie High School — 1957 — Russia launched the world’s first man-made satellite, Sputnik 1. The Space Race was on, and America was losing.
Five years later, with a mechanical engineering degree from Georgia Tech in his hand, Littles joined the competition. Over the next half-century, the Moultrie native helped the United States put a man on the moon, develop a reusable space shuttle and establish a space station.
“I got into the program very early,” Littles recalled. “It was a very exciting time.” -
