Man charged in October incident

MOULTRIE — A Moultrie man accused of making multiple calls in October to a woman who had been granted a court order prohibiting that activity was arrested Monday by officers investigating another incident.

Furl Williams, 55, 1152 Sixth St. S.W., was charged Monday with violation of a family-violence order.

Geraldine Mobley, 59, reported on Oct. 21 that Furl, her ex-boyfriend, had harassed her by telephone despite a protective order prohibiting him from contacting her by calling her work place in the 1400 block of First Street Northeast.

At the time she made the report two employees told police that they answered phone calls from Williams, and police said that Williams’ cell telephone number was logged into the caller identification at that location.

Williams was arrested on Monday when police responded to a report of an unwanted person where Williams told them he had been arguing with his current girlfriend. A check revealed that there was a warrant for Williams’ arrest in the October incident.
