MOULTRIE —
A probationer faces more charges after he allegedly fought with a deputy trying to serve an arrest warrant on him Thursday morning.
Dexter Lynn Thomas, 42, of 901 Seventh Ave. S.E., was charged with two counts of obstruction, battery on a peace officer and interfering with government property.
A Colquitt County sheriff’s deputy was called to the Southwest Probation Office on South Main Street at 8:33 a.m. Thursday. Thomas had come into the office to check in, and it was found he had a warrant for his arrest.
When the deputy went to place Thomas in handcuffs, however, Thomas allegedly struggled with the deputy and a probation officer. He allegedly bit the deputy in the neck and damaged a wall of the probation office.
Thomas was subdued and placed under arrest, and he was taken to Colquitt County Jail.
