MOULTRIE — An officer responding Monday to an unwanted guest call made an arrest in a theft reported earlier that day when the caller in that case handed over a stolen car stereo.

The stereo, reported stolen in the morning from Adeladio Gonzalez’s residence in the 100 block of Green Street, was turned over by neighbor Michael Barrett, who had called at 7:22 p.m. to have Timothy Lee Barrett removed from his home.

When the officer arrived, Michael Barrett had him follow him into the residence where he handed the officer a stereo/cassette player.

At that time Gonzalez had arrived and identified the stereo as the one    stolen out of his truck.

Timothy Lee Barrett, 26, 134 Green St., admitted taking the stereo, sheriff’s reports said, and he was charged with entering auto.

In other arrests:

• Gregory Franklin Blackburn, 34, 456 Shady Grove Road, Pavo, was charged Monday with probation violation.



Moultrie Police

• Amos Lamar Goram, 17, 114 Vinson St., was charged Monday with carrying a knife on school property.

Police were called after two students at Vereen school, 2510 West Blvd., reported that Goram had a knife on the school bus in the morning.

When called to the office, no knife was found when Goram turned out his pockets. Another student questioned by a teacher admitted that Goram had passed it to him in the hallway.

A single-blade knife was found and removed by police.

• Nora Martinez, 41, 818-B Sixth St. N.W., was charged Monday with no driver’s license and defective equipment.



Georgia State Patrol

• Terry Thadus Brogdon, 34, 6 Woodridge Road, was charged Monday with possession of marijuana, possession of a drug-related object, driving under the influence, failure to drive within a single lane and open container violation.



Thefts

Moultrie Police

• Colquitt County High School, 1800 Park Ave., reported Monday that two drink machines in the cafeteria were entered during a weekend burglary at the campus.

Police said that the change collectors were missing from the machines and that cash register drawers were ajar.

The school later reported finding a window that had been pried open, damage to the school resource officer’s office and finding a broken broom handle and pieces of the soda machine near the school gym.

• Dollar General, 1908 First Ave. S.E., reported Monday that a man concealed merchandise under his jacket and returned it when confronted by an employee. He left when told police were being called.

The binoculars and wash cloths returned to the store were valued at $18.

• Shantara Wilson, 1500 block Fourth Avenue Northeast, reported Monday that a male relative took her cell telephone and apartment key.

• Anthony Bonner, 700 block Third Avenue Southwest, reported Monday the theft of electronics valued at $269.



Sheriff’s Office

• Ladonna Hancock, 200 block Smokey Bear Road, Norman Park, reported Monday the theft of a stainless steel restaurant-style grill, two deep-fryer baskets and a Kustom public address system with two speakers from the 200 block of Pineview Avenue, where they were being stored.

Sheriff’s reports said Hancock suspects that a former employee took the property.

 

Assaults

Moultrie Police

• Kevin Edwards, 1200 block 11th St. S.W., reported Monday that a female companion tried to hit him, following him into other rooms and pressing a warm iron he had been using against his stomach.

Nicole McNeal told police that she and Edwards got into an argument and he refused to leave, then pushed her and took her phone when she tried to call 911.

Both Edwards and McNeal told police they did not want to press charges in the incident and no arrests were made.



Property damage

Moultrie Police

• Kenneth Weaver, 100 block Second Avenue Northwest, reported Monday that a mail box was damaged overnight.



Other investigations

• An officer patrolling at about 1 p.m. Monday in the first block of Old Tram Road noticed toilet paper in the trees of a residence.

The resident, Kelly Hart, told police that juveniles in the neighborhood threw the toilet paper but she did not know their names.
