MOULTRIE — A Colquitt County Correctional Institution inmate accused of spitting in the face of a guard faces felony obstruction and other charges related to the Friday incident.

Ravon Desean Thomas, 19, of Decatur, was charged Tuesday with simple battery, possession of a cell phone by an inmate and obstruction of an officer.

A guard caught Thomas with a telephone, Colquitt County Sheriff’s Inv. Mike Murfin said, and when confronted the inmate refused to obey staff member’s orders.

A physical confrontation ensued, Murfin said, in which Thomas bit and hit one officer and spit in another officer’s face.

In other arrests:

• Anthony Rhodes, 35, 260 Dick Traylor Road, was charged Monday with giving a false name or information to an officer.

Ronald Hudson, of the 2000 block of Georgia Highway 37 East, reported that a man stopped at his residence and asked if he could wash Hudson’s car before leaving in a Chrysler 300.

Later, an officer found the car on Lindale Avenue, where Rhodes was washing a car. The resident there said that Rhodes had permission to wash the car. At that time, sheriff’s reports said, Rhodes said that his name was Mark Bonner and that he was stopping at homes to wash cars to make extra money.

The officer was suspicious and checked the name, then returned to the Lindale Avenue residence with a second officer where they found the car but not Rhodes. At about 7 p.m. officers found Rhodes in a ditch near the intersection of Destiny Road and R.W. Bryant Road and he was taken into custody.

• Lori Gerrell Todd, 26, was charged Tuesday with probation violation.

• Michael Edward Ricks, 33, 169 Schramm Road, was charged Saturday with three counts of obstruction of an officer.



Doerun Police

• Terry Anderson Jr., 22, 203 W. Union Circle, Doerun, was charged Tuesday with probation violation.

• Tammie Renee Alford, 48, West Robinson Avenue, was charged Monday with disorderly conduct and public drunk.



Moultrie Police

• Kaylon Jane Sanders, 21, 1994 Kendalwood Drive, was charged Wednesday with probation violation.

• Molly Kathryn McCall, 25, 9 Tram Road, was charged Tuesday with probation violation.

• Tahara Nashay Yates, 33, 729 Fourth St. N.W. Apt. 8, was charged Tuesday with theft by taking and forgery.

• Jacqueline Lawana Pugh, 42, 1316 Hallmark Drive, was charged Wednesday with suspended license and speeding.



Thefts

Sheriff’s Office

• Chuck Reagin reported Tuesday that a man had a $2,000 custom wrap job done on a “monster truck” at his business, What A Graphics, 464 Ga. Hwy. 33 S. on Friday and used a credit card account to pay for the job.

The customer told Reagin that the credit card was on his sponsor’s account, but Reagin later learned that the payment had not been authorized, sheriff’s reports said. Since that time he has been unable to contact the customer or the card holder.

• Saul Garcia Jr., 100 block Tallokas Trail, reported Tuesday that his North Face jacket containing his wallet and identification was stolen while he was at a party in October.

Garcia told the sheriff’s office that he did not report the theft at the time but did so on Tuesday in case he becomes the victim of ID theft.

• Brandon Roberts, 100 block Dow Lane, reported Monday the theft of prescription medications and a bag of coins out of his car.

• Stephanie Martinez, 346 Pineboro Road, reported a burglary Tuesday in which property valued at $4,201 was stolen.

The stolen property included an Insignia 42-inch flat screen television, PlayStation 3 system and games, Compaq laptop computer and two Xbox consoles and games.

She reported that a back door window had been broken to gain entry.

• Martha Soto, 100 block Church Street, Ellenton, reported Tuesday the theft of two Nintendo game systems were taken in a burglary of her residence.

• Larry Barricklow, 200 block Patch Road, reported Tuesday a burglary in which property valued at $2,490 was stolen.

The stolen property included a Berelli 12-gauge pump shotgun, Flight King 12-gauge shotgun, Flight King 20-gauge pump shotgun, Maadi AK47 rifle, Marlin .22-caliber long rifle, .22-caliber long rifle and 100 40-caliber rounds.



Moultrie Police

• Debbie Hall, Moultrie, reported Monday the theft of change from a clothes dryer at Forest Apartments, 2701 Fifth St. S.W.

Hall told police that was the third time the coin storage unit has been forced open and change stolen since early December 2012.

Save-A-Lot, 205 Sixth St. S.E., reported Monday that three juvenile girls concealed candy bars valued at $73 by placing the candy in their book bags.

The girls, ages 16, 13 and 11 were caught a short time later and turned over to their parents, police said. All of the stolen merchandise was recovered. The store is expected to press charges.

• Dennis Dawson, Tallahassee, Fla., reported Tuesday that a deceased relative’s checks were taken from her nursing home room after she was taken to the hospital for treatment and that three of the checks were passed at a Moultrie restaurant.

• Cruz Deportes, 307 Sixth St. S.E., reported Tuesday that a door know was found damaged on that day and that about a week ago someone broke into the business and took property valued at $316.



Assaults

• Kandra Canty, 24, Moultrie, reported Tuesday that a co-worker hit her in the head from behind while they were at their workplace at 5:45 a.m. in the 100 block of West Bypass Southwest.

Santana Thomas, 27, of Moultrie, told police that she pushed Canty after Canty put her hand in her face.



Property damage

Sheriff’s Office

• Mailyn Perez, 1100 block Fourth Street Southeast, reported Tuesday that a 2008 Ford Edge was damaged while parked on the side of the road on South Boulevard.



Moultrie Police

• Officers responding at 10:41 p.m. Monday to an alarm at Browning Realty, 719 S. Main St., found that a glass door had been snatched open and that someone had tried to kick in the back door.

Nothing was taken, police said.

• Gabrette Virgil, 800 block Third Street Southeast, reported Tuesday that a 1998 Mercury Marquis was damaged.

The car had extensive damage to the passenger side, the front passenger door window was broken and there was red paint from another vehicle on the car, police said. Damage was estimated at more than $500.

• Clarence Davis, 2600 block Seventh Street Southeast, reported Tuesday that a 1990 Dodge D150 was scratched overnight.

The truck had scratches over the entire driver’s door, passenger side and hood. Damage was estimated at less than $500.
