House hit again by AC vandal

MOULTRIE — A Moultrie man reported Thursday a thief took the air conditioning unit from his vacant house from outside and dragged it inside the house. It was the second time this week someone had dragged the unit into the house.

A Moultrie police officer was called to a house on Seventh Avenue Southeast at 12:08 p.m. Thursday about a burglary. The officer spoke with owner Alex Malone, who stated a thief took the air conditioning unit from outside the house and dragged it inside.

An officer was also called to the house at 1:53 p.m. Monday about a burglary in progress. Malone stated then that he and a helper had gone to the house to do some work when an unknown black male ran out of the front door, right past both men. The man had pulled the air conditioning unit from outside, dragged it to the front porch and inside the house and was trying to take apart the unit when Malone arrived.

Malone told the officer Thursday he secured the house as best he could Tuesday morning but found someone opened the front door, brought the air conditioner inside and stripped it. It was believed the same man who tried to strip the unit Monday afternoon returned and stripped it between 9 a.m. Tuesday and 12:08 p.m. Thursday.
