Weekend thefts top $14,000
MOULTRIE — Moultrie and Colquitt County law enforcement responded to numerous theft reports over the weekend that totaled $14,194 in stolen property and damage. Among the items stolen were a pickup truck, electronics, and a purse and its contents that totaled more than $1,000.
Moultrie Police
• An employee at Rich Oil on North Main Street reported a thief cut the lock on a slot machine and stole $750 cash between 2 p.m. and 6:44 p.m. Saturday. Officers were given the names of a male suspect and a female suspect.
• Betty Wims reported a thief damaged ceiling tiles at a vacant house on Second Street Northwest and stole pipes, a sink, rolls of electrical wire, a panel box, a 30-gallon water heater and a bath tub between March 2 and 11 a.m. Thursday. Damage and the value of the stolen items was $1,885.
• An employee at Mercer Motors on First Avenue Southeast reported a thief broke out three driver’s side windows and a passenger window of four vehicles and stole a DVD/CD player and two CD players Friday. The value of the stolen items was $650.
• Mary Smithwick reported a thief stole $185 cash and her debit card from her Volkswagen Beetle while it was parked at a business on First Avenue Southeast Friday.
• Robert Alridge reported a thief stole three SPL speakers from his storage unit on First Street Northeast Friday. The value of the stolen speakers was about $300.
• An employee at Stringfellow Elementary School on Fifth Avenue Southwest reported a thief stole her Coach purse, containing her keys, nine credit cards, her Social Security card, $350 cash, two checkbooks, a Kim Rogers wallet and a second purse with additional items, from her classroom closet between 7:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday. The value of the stolen items was $1,079.
Sheriff’s Office
• Rosa Owens, of Hancock Trail, reported a thief broke out a window and stole a Vizio 42-inch television, a framing nail gun, a finishing nail gun, a brad nail gun and a toolbox between 9:25 a.m. and 2:52 p.m. Sunday. The value of the stolen items was $545.
• Charles Allegood, of Bay Road, reported a thief pried open a passenger door of his Ford Escape and stole three Canon camera lenses, an LG 24-inch television, a Logitech keyboard, a Hewlett-Packard mouse, a Logitech 10-inch subwoofer, a Canon 35mm camera, a Nintendo DS, a pair of Wolverine boots, frozen food and a camera bag Saturday. The value of the stolen items was $4,999. Allegood gave sheriff’s deputies the name of a male suspect.
• Two customers at Key’s Paint and Body Shop on Highway 319 North reported a thief stole two headrest television monitors and a Questar DVD receiver from a Lincoln Navigator and stole a CD faceplate from a Mercury Sable between 4 p.m. Thursday and 2:07 p.m. Saturday. The value of the stolen items was $800.
• Allen Hartley reported a thief stole a 1950 Ford dually truck while it was parked on Thigpen Trail in Hartsfield between 4 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Saturday. The value of the stolen truck was $2,500. Hartley gave sheriff’s deputies the name of a male suspect.
• Michelle Bright, of Mark Lane, reported a thief stole a Toshiba 40-inch television between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Friday. The value of the stolen television was $501. Bright gave sheriff’s deputies the names of two suspects.
