Reported thefts top $11,000

MOULTRIE — Seven Colquitt County residents reported they were recent victims of property theft. Items reported stolen included electronics, specifically televisions; a lawn mower; tools; and cash.

The value of the items reported stolen was $11,341. Those filing the reports were:

• David Anderson, of Mary L. Hiers Road, reported a thief stole a Snapper riding mower, a bagger, a sweeper and a Craftsman toolbox with tools between Feb. 18 and 4 p.m. Thursday. The value of the stolen items was $3,524.

• Mary Contrell, of Bonnie Tucker Road, reported Thursday a thief stole $2,000 cash she hid in a sock Feb. 18. Contrell gave sheriff’s deputies the name of a male suspect.

• George Studstill, of South Boulevard, reported a thief kicked open the front door and stole a Mitsubishi 65-inch television between 7:25 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The value of the stolen television was $1,500. Studstill gave sheriff’s deputies the name of a female suspect.

• Randall Sammons, of Lanier Road in Coolidge, reported a thief broke out a storm door window and stole a Samsung 32-inch television, a Vizio 26-inch television, a Sony PlayStation 3, a Hewlett-Packard computer, three PlayStation 3 games and 100 CDs between 5:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Thursday. The value of the stolen items was $3,027.

• Ernest Baird, of Sam Sells Road, reported a thief stole a Vizio 19-inch television between 7 p.m. Monday and 2:45 p.m. Thursday. The value of the stolen television was $240.

• Travian Herring reported a thief stole a Samsung cell phone from his book bag while he was at Colquitt County High School on Park Avenue Monday. The value of the stolen cell phone was $150.

• Janelle Jelks, of Highway 319 North in Norman Park, reported a thief broke out a window and stole a Toshiba 40-inch television Wednesday. The value of the stolen television was $900.



Arrests

Moultrie Police

• Jason Francis Oates, 30, of 101 Beaver Pond Drive in Woodstock, was charged Friday with DUI less safe driver, possession of marijuana less than one ounce and failure to maintain lane.

• Enorris Lewayne Herring, 35, of 609 First St. N.W., was charged Thursday with driving without a license and brake lights required.

• Elberta Mae Vinson, 49, of 1330 Highway 319 N., Lot 28-D, in Norman Park, was charged Thursday with DUI and failure to maintain lane.

• Norma Castilla, 24, of 189 Wiggs Road, was charged Thursday with theft by shoplifting. She allegedly tried to steal several cosmetic items and a hoodie, valued at about $41, from Wal-Mart on South Veterans Parkway.



Sheriff’s Office

• Carroll Ray Fender, 26, of 668 Bonnie Tuk Road, was charged Tuesday with theft by taking, theft by deception, driving with a suspended license and probation violation.

• Aaron Connell Ponder, 37, of 1108 Grant Court, was charged Thursday with DUI, failure to maintain lane, DUI child endangerment and driving with a suspended license.

• Demetrius Dillon Smith, 18, of 835 Shy Manor Drive, Apt. 1, was charged Wednesday with possession of marijuana on school grounds.



Other Incidents

Moultrie Police

• Sandra Perales reported someone slashed two tires and scratched the passenger side of her Chevrolet Cobalt while it was parked at a house on Fourth Street Northwest Thursday. Damage was $400.

• An employee at Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts on Second Street Northeast reported someone drove a Chevrolet Colorado truck into a guard rail and pole and left the scene Thursday. Damage was estimated at $500.

• Bobbie Roberts, of Third Street Southwest, reported someone broke out the driver’s side window and a passenger window and damaged the trunk of his Mercedes S500 between 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and 8:10 a.m. Thursday.
