The Colquitt County Drug Enforcement Team (DET) made a total of six arrests in three separate incidents within the week. DET Commander Sgt. Steve Exum said agents were called to 209 Lakeshore Road about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday for complaints of methamphetamine activity. When agents searched the house, they found several pieces of drug paraphernalia, which were taken as evidence. Jason Smith Searcy, 36, of 209 Lakeshore Road, was apprehended and charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Agents received another call complaining about drug activity at the house, and Exum said they arrived there a second time about 2:10 p.m. Thursday. During a search, agents recovered a working methamphetamine lab, and Joseph Allen Videtto, 30, of 209 Lakeshore Road, was apprehended and charged with possession of methamphetamine and manufacturing methamphetamine. Additional charges may be added pending the investigation.
Agents received calls regarding drug activity and a fight at 523 27th St. S.E. about 9:30 p.m. Friday, Exum said. During the investigation, agents recovered several illegal drugs, and three people were apprehended and charged. Those charged were:
• Thomas Andrew Strickland Jr., 33, of 134 Tallokas Estates, was charged with possession of Xanax and a pills to be kept in original container violation.
• Tiffany Marie Griffin, 22, of 20 Bracken Drive, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, and
• Melanie Jade Wiley, 26, of 523 27th St. S.E., Apt. 5, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of cocaine.
Exum said Carl Dean Rice, 21, of 469 Jerrald Carter Road in Sylvester, was apprehended and charged with DUI and three counts of possession of a controlled substance Friday. A Georgia State Patrol trooper allegedly found Xanax, Vicodin and Clonazapam in Rice’s vehicle during a traffic stop at the Highway 133 South and Edmondson Road intersection at 11:06 p.m. Friday.
