Man’s death investigated

MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office has opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of a Norman Park man who died in January more than four months after suffering a head injury in a reported assault.

Roland Edward Hobby, 66, died on Dec. 31 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus.

After suffering the head injury on Aug. 7, Hobby pretty much spent the rest of his life in several medical facilities, sheriff’s Inv. Jim  Brown said. At the time, Sandra Hobby reported that the 65-year-old Hobby was assaulted at about 4 a.m. at their 200 block of Livingston Bridge Road residence. Brown said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will assist in the probe.
