MOULTRIE — A Moultrie man who surrendered Tuesday is the fourth person to be arrested in connection with a July 20 home invasion and shooting in Southeast Moultrie.

Willie Clyde Hightower, 22, 1515 Fourth Ave. N.E. Apt. M-5 turned himself in at the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office at about 1 a.m. Tuesday, reports said. He has been charged with armed robbery.

Earlier, police had charged Anwar Jerrell Arnold, 19, Tobias Demere Thomas, 23, and 14-year-old Dontavius Jackson with armed robbery in the incident at 505 11th Court S.E.

Thomas and Jackson also are charged with murder in the July 2 fatal shooting of Alvin Hunt Jr., 26 outside Shy Manor Apartments.

In addition to armed robbery, the four arrested in the 11th Court home invasion face charges of weapons and aggravated assault charges, Moultrie Police Department Cmdr. Alfonso Cook said Tuesday.

They are accused of kicking in the door of the residence and robbing Jimmy Myers of about $300. Myers, who was shot as many as six times, survived.

In recent days law enforcement agencies have arrested all the suspects they have identified in the home invasion and July 2 slaying of Hunt.

Cook said he could not rule out additional arrests.

“All of it is still under investigation,” he said.

Police have not released a motive for the slaying.
