Indictments in 2 slayings

MOULTRIE — A Colquitt County teen-ager was indicted by a Colquitt County Grand Jury this week in the death of a Sale City man who reportedly disappeared after driving to Edmondson Road to pick up a junk vehicle.

James Jamal Williams, 19, 512 Edmondson Road, was indicted on charges of malice murder, felony murder, armed robbery, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and concealing the death of another.

Williams is a accused of fatally shooting Joshua Morey, 27, on March 27, and hiding his body. The felony murder count alleges that Williams killed Morey during the commission of an armed robbery.

Williams was arrested three days after the crime.

Morey’s Dodge 2500 pickup truck was found directly in front of Williams’ residence on the day of the shooting, the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office said. Morey’s body was found wrapped in carpeting in bushes behind William’s residence.

Morey reportedly left his home at about 8 a.m. March 27 heading to Moultrie, the sheriff’s office has said, where he went to Edmondson Road to pick up a junk vehicle. He was not seen alive after that time.

In another slaying case before the grand jury this week, Gregory Lamont Denson was indicted on charges of malice murder, aggravated assault, three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and attempt to violate the Georgia Controlled Substances Act.

Denson, of Barwick, is accused in the Sept. 8, 2008, slaying of Marquis Thornton, 32, whose body was found in the front yard of a 410 E. Central Ave. residence.

Richard Levon Revels Jr., 22, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the slaying in May and was sentenced earlier this month to a 20-year prison sentence.

Denson’s trial has been delayed on two occasions.

In other indictments this week the grand jury indicted the following people:

• David Dewayne Ogletree; obstruction of an officer, battery.

• Simon Peter Johnson Jr.; two counts of terroristic threats, simple battery.

• Joshua Stephen Payne; two counts child molestation, two counts sexual battery of a child under 16.

• Cassandra Dawn Johnson; terroristic threats.

• Derrick Donnell Murray; enticing a child for indecent purposes.

• Leon Lee Jones Jr.; aggravated assault.

• Jason Lee Brown; forgery.

• Michael Lanier Morey; forgery.

• Stephen Allen Sheffield; criminal damage to property in the second degree.

• Robert Milton Thompson; terroristic threats, criminal trespass.

• Senja Beth Mitchell; terroristic threats, obstruction of an officer.

• Michael Scott Burdette; three counts homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence, driving on the wrong side of the roadway.

• Francine E. King; obstruction of an officer, reckless conduct by an HIV-infected person.

• Thelonious Maurice Smith; crossing the guard line with contraband, possession of marijuana.

• Robert Williams Jr.; crossing the guard line with contraband, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

• Darrell Glenn Coasey; possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, obstruction of an officer, giving false information to a law enforcement officer.

• David Dewayne Spradley; possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, driving without a license, obstruction of an officer.

• Bobby Eugene Melton; possession of methamphetamine, criminal trespass.

• Walter Lemon Treanor; possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, obstruction of an officer.

• Garrett Waldon; trafficking in cocaine, obstruction of an officer, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, disregarding a traffic-control device.

• Christopher T. Bennett; possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

• Joseph Lambright; three counts forgery.

• Eric Dontae Sims; attempt to commit a felony.

• Demetrius Antwaun Key; interference with government property.

• Merchel Lamar Gay; criminal use of an article with an altered identification mark.

• Alberto Alarcon Morales; false imprisonment, terroristic threats, four counts cruelty to children, battery (family violence), two counts obstruction of an officer.

• John Todd Barfield; two counts terroristic threats.

• Archie Lewis Wood, also known as Archie Lewis Woods; possession of prohibited items by inmates.

• Kirby Bernard Thomas; possession of prohibited items by inmates.

• Ladarrian Simpson; burglary, theft by taking.

• Saul Vallejo; two counts obstruction of an officer.

• Ricky Maurice Young; interference with government property.

• Eric Demetrius Lamar; two counts aggravated assault, two counts possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

• Eric Demetrius Lamar; four counts aggravated assault, four counts possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

• Zeferino Villanueva; aggravated assault, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, speeding, reckless driving, driving under the influence.

• Anthony Lee Grady; aggravated assault, theft by taking, cruelty to children.

• Brodrick Blackwell; attempted removal of a weapon from a public official.

• Willie Charles Spradley and Jarvis Jabaar West; burglary, aggravated assault, attempt to commit a felony.

• Alan Scott Jones Jr.; burglary.

• Jimmy Earl Brown; burglary, aggravated assault, false imprisonment.

• Eric Maurice Scott; forgery.

Accusations against the following also were made this week:

• Adriana Gomez; theft by taking.

• Mary Frances Hurst; theft by taking.

• Linda Marie Bryan and James Scott Nie; theft by conversion.

• Enon Rarrand McKelvary; possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

• Randy Bernard Downs Jr.; theft by taking.

• Charles Lynwood Boyd Jr.; possession of cocaine, possession of drug-related objects, driving under the influence.

• Donald Ray Bradshaw Jr.; possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, drugs not in original container.

• Brykece Quintae Suggs; sale of a controlled substance.

• Gerald Matthew Snyder; possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

• Shedrick Tyshaun Ponder; possession of cocaine.

• Samantha Horton; forgery.

• Roy Robinson; habitual violator.

• William Forrest Dossett and Robbie L. Williams; criminal damage to property.

• Kevaughn T. Hayes; theft by receiving stolen property.

• Robin Mitchell Redmond; criminal damage to property.

• Krystle L. Willis; driving under the influence (less safe driver), speeding, driving while license suspended, reckless driving.

• Veronica Rae Diers; possession of cocaine.

• Eddie Dean Proctor; forgery.

• Willie L. Bender Jr.; trafficking in cocaine, driving without a license, obstruction of an officer.

• Paul Lewis Strickland;; possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, obstruction of an officer.

• Christine Loud; forgery in the first degree.

• Tamara Jere Williams; two counts financial transaction card fraud.
