Stolen truck found at break-in

Staff Reports

MOULTRIE — A Moultrie police officer spotted two people allegedly trying to steal items from a business on Rowland Drive early Tuesday morning. The two people fled the scene on foot, leaving a truck that was reported stolen.

An officer was sent to Rhodes Heating and Cooling on Rowland Drive about 2 a.m. Tuesday about people stealing items from a fenced-in area. Another officer had spotted two people loading items into a truck, and the two thieves fled on foot as the officer approached them.

The second officer arrived at the scene and looked to see if anyone was still behind the fence after the owner arrived. No one else was found, and a hacksaw, jumper cables, an extension cord and copper and metal items were recovered. The value of the items was about $340.

During a search of the Ford F-250 truck, the officer found several forms of identification for Tammy Tyler, along with identification of a second person. A third officer was called to Tyler’s house on 13th Avenue Southwest, and Tyler reported the truck was stolen from there between 11 p.m. Monday and 2:15 a.m. Tuesday. The truck was towed from the business scene and later returned to Tyler.
