MOULTRIE — A Moultrie man was arrested after he allegedly tried to make a purchase using a counterfeit bill Tuesday night.
Freddie Hadley, 44, of 9 Fourth Ave. N.W., Apt. A, was charged with forgery.
A Moultrie police officer was called to M&E; Grocery on First Street Northwest at 10:35 p.m. about a counterfeit bill. The officer spoke with an employee who stated Hadley allegedly tried to buy a bag of chips using a counterfeit $50 bill.
When the employee checked the bill using a counterfeit-detecting pen, he stated it showed the $50 bill was counterfeit. He then tore the bill in half and told Hadley it was no good, but Hadley told the employee that the bill was good.
The officer looked at the bill and told Hadley it was a counterfeit bill, but he allegedly insisted it was a good bill. When asked where the bill came from, Hadley allegedly stated he got it from a supermarket but then said he had received it as change after an unknown friend bought him some items using a $100 bill.
Hadley was then placed under arrest and taken to Colquitt County Jail, and the counterfeit bill was taken as evidence.

• Albert Lee Tuff Sr., 55, of 224 Ninth St. S.W., was charged Tuesday with making terroristic threats and acts and obstruction.
• Jeremy Deshaun Murray, 27, of 804 First Ave. S.W., was charged Tuesday with disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property (second degree).
• Traviskuis Pate, 26, of 794 Erve Williams Road, was charged Tuesday with disorderly conduct.
• James Carshoray Willis, 32, of 9 Hallmark Drive, was charged Tuesday with driving with an expired license and speeding.
• Terrance Alexis Johnson, 25, of 720 13th St. S.W., was charged Tuesday with cruelty to children and simple battery.
• Seth DeVaughn Moore, 21, of 827 Shy Manor Drive, Apt. 4, was charged Tuesday with malicious mischief.
Colquitt County S.O.
• Robert Williams Jr., 44, of 998 Greenspence Road in Midville, was charged Tuesday with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and crossing a guardline with contraband.
• Benito Martinez, 23, of 210 McMullen Lane, was charged Tuesday with driving without a license, driving with an expired tag and operating a vehicle with blue lights.
Berlin Police
• Juan Diego Samuel, 24, of 1719 Holmes Drive, was charged Tuesday with speeding and driving without a license.

Moultrie Police
• An employee at Easy Corner on West Central Avenue reported Tuesday a customer cashed a fraudulent check Dec. 15. The amount of the fraudulent check was $469.11.
Colquitt County S.O.
• Troy Davidson reported a thief stole a Sony PSP with a game from his former house on Crosland-Scooterville Road in Omega between 3 p.m. Friday and noon Tuesday. The value of the stolen items was $228. Davidson gave sheriff’s deputies the name of a male suspect.
• Gildador Perez, of Circle Road, reported a thief stole a J. Reynolds guitar and an Apple iPhone between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday. The value of the stolen items was about $500. Perez gave sheriff’s deputies the name of a male suspect.
