MOULTRIE — Southwest Georgia Bank gave a $15,000 donation to the Moultrie Technical College Foundation Friday and committed to continue the donations over the next four years.
DeWitt Drew, president and chief executive officer of Southwest Georgia Bank, made the announcement during a breakfast held at Moultrie Tech’s Veterans Parkway campus Friday morning. He said Moultrie Tech President Tina Anderson was one of the first people who came to him asking for donations, and he is committed to serving the college.
“Southwest Georgia Bank has pledged to donate $60,000 in four annual $15,000 increments to the Moultrie Technical College Foundation,” Drew said. “MTC provides excellent educational opportunities for all segments of our society, and we at Southwest Georgia Bank support them in their endeavor to contribute to the economic and educational development of our community.”
Anderson said the day was a very special one for Moultrie Tech, and she appreciated all Drew has done for the college. He has always helped the school meet its needs, she said, and he has stated he never will say no to helping Moultrie Tech.
In addition to showing appreciation to Southwest Georgia Bank, Anderson said this was also a special year for faculty and staff donations to the Moultrie Tech Foundation. This year was the first time the college had 100 percent participation from its faculty and staff this year, and they are why other entities like Southwest Georgia Bank support the college.
“What we’re getting today is on the backs of what you gave,” Anderson told the faculty and staff.
