MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fight that left a man with a deep cut to his abdomen early Saturday morning.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to a house on Tallokas Estates at 4:59 a.m. Saturday about a fight involving several Hispanic men. The deputies met with Martin Diaz, who had come out of a house asking for help.
When the deputies went inside the house, they found Juan Diaz Hernandez, 40, lying on a mattress. They found he had a large laceration to his right side that had exposed his intestines. Colquitt County EMS was called to the scene and treated Hernandez for the injury.
Diaz told the deputies he found Hernandez, his uncle, in the bedroom injured when he returned home. A witness told the deputies they were asleep at the time of the incident but were awakened when Diaz returned home. A second witness told the deputies they received a phone call about a fight that took place at Tallokas Estates, but he did not have any additional information at the time.
A Colquitt County sheriff’s investigator was attempting to gather information and possible suspects in the fight Monday with little success.
