Siblings arrested after fracas

Staff Reports

NORMAN PARK — A brother and sister were arrested after they allegedly hit each other with a board during an argument Wednesday night.

Rhonda Sutton, 35, of 768 Moye Road in Norman Park, and Gary Dewayne Conger, 39, of 776 Moye Road in Norman Park, were each charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

A Colquitt County sheriff’s deputy was called to Sutton’s house at 10:02 p.m. Wednesday and spoke with her. She stated her brother, Conger, came down to her house and told her she was being evicted and to pack up her belongings.

Conger and Sutton then got into an argument, and Conger allegedly picked up a 2-by-4 board and hit Sutton with it in the right side. She had swelling and a bruise to her right side from the alleged blow.

The deputy then spoke with Conger, and he stated Sutton allegedly began yelling at him when he told her she was being evicted. As he got closer to her, she allegedly picked up the board and hit him in the left side, causing swelling and minor bleeding to his left arm.Witnesses told the deputy Conger was the one who had used the board against Sutton and that she had never touched him. Despite the witness statements, both Conger and Sutton were placed under arrest and taken to Colquitt County Jail.
