Thieves make off with antique furniture

MOULTRIE — A woman watching her cousin’s house over the weekend reported a thief stole more than $22,000 in antique furniture from it Monday.

Debbie Herring told Colquitt County deputies that a thief stole a bed frame, two dressers, a 19-inch television, a bed, an ottoman, a night stand, an armoire and two chairs from her cousin’s house on Tallokas Road between 8:30 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Monday. Herring had been watching the house for her cousin and found the items stolen when she returned to the house Monday morning.

The value of the stolen items was $22,139.

In other thefts reported in Colquitt County:

• Tenetria Shealey, of Third Avenue Southwest, reported a thief stole her husband’s Social Security check Thursday. The amount of the stolen check was $614. Shealey gave officers the names of two female suspects.

• Kristina Land, of Fairmeadow Apartments, reported a thief stole two bottles of prescription medication Monday.

• Jonathan Resendiz reported Monday a thief stole his Motorola cell phone while he was at his aunt’s house on Third Street Southeast June 7. The value of the stolen phone was $285. Resendiz gave officers the name of a male suspect.

• Lakesha Thomas reported a thief stole a diamond ring and a credit card from her purse while she was at a house on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive Friday. The value of the stolen items was $1,861. Thomas gave officers the name of a female suspect.

• An employee at Buddy’s Home Furnishings on First Street Northwest reported a thief stole an LG 42-inch television Monday. The value of the stolen television was $875.

• Martha Lumas, of 10th Street Southeast, reported a thief stole a lawn mower from her yard Tuesday. The value of the stolen lawn mower was about $100.

• Larry Truett, of Sumner Road, reported a thief stole $75 cash, a Makita circular saw, a Skil saw, a Craftsman air compressor, two Paslode nail guns, a Bostich nail gun and a Craftsman screw gun from his unlocked Jeep Cherokee between 7 a.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Monday. The value of the stolen items was $1,705.
