Six teens charged with underage drinking
MOULTRIE — Six Moultrie teenagers were arrested after they allegedly were found drinking alcohol Thursday night.
Garrett Ross Boyd, 19, of 209 Duffel Drive, Jon Gittens, 18, of 106 Longleaf Drive, Brenn Butterfield, 19, and Jeremy Blake Cato, 19, both of 713-C 26th Ave. S.E., and Levi Thomas Bothoff, 19, and Timothy Peretti, 18, both of 713-B 26th Ave. S.E., were each charged with illegal possession of alcohol.
A Moultrie police officer was called to Pineland Apartments on 26th Avenue Southeast at 11:42 p.m. Thursday about underage drinking. The officer met with the apartment manager, who stated she had ongoing problems with the tenants in two apartments related to underage drinking and disorderly conduct.
When the officer arrived, the apartment manager stated the tenants at the two apartments had several people who were allegedly drinking alcohol. The manager spotted two of the tenants, identified as Boyd and Gittens, standing next to a pickup truck in the parking lot. When the officer told them to come over, Boyd allegedly ran away while a second officer spoke with Gittens.
The first officer went to Apartment 713-C and spoke with Butterfield and Cato about the call. The officer allegedly saw several beer cans inside the apartment and was given permission to enter. Both allegedly admitted to drinking alcohol, police said.
The second officer went to Apartment 713-B and brought the two tenants, identified as Bothoff and Peretti, to the other apartment along with Gittens and Boyd. The four allegedly admitted to drinking alcohol, and all six of the accused allegedly tested positive for alcohol in a breathalyzer test, police said. A seventh person was also tested but was released when the breathalyzer test came back negative.
