Thefts top $5,000

John Oxford

MOULTRIE — Four Colquitt County residents reported they were recent victims of property theft. Items reported stolen included electronics, copper wiring, guns and a riding lawn mower.

The value of the items reported stolen was about $5,365. Those who reported being the victims of theft were:

• Cody Brinson reported a thief stole an Apple iPod, an auxiliary cord and a CD player remote from his unlocked Geo Metro while it was parked at Wal-Mart on South Veterans Parkway Tuesday. The value of the stolen items was about $265.

• Andrew Dove, of Sam Sells Road, reported a thief stole a Gateway laptop computer, a Canon camera, a Browning .22-caliber pistol and a Sony 32-inch television between 11:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Tuesday. The value of the stolen items was $3,250.

• Kurt Steiner, of Sardis Church Road, reported a thief stole 150 feet of copper wire between 7 a.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Monday. The value of the stolen copper was about $350. Steiner gave sheriff’s deputies the names of two male suspects.

• Janice Stephens, of C.S. Powell Road in Omega, reported a thief stole a John Deere riding mower between Saturday and Sunday. The value of the stolen lawn mower was $1,500.

Arrests

Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office

• Daniel Zavala, 23, of 209 Halls Trail, was charged Wednesday with deposit account fraud.



Georgia State Patrol

• Victor Mendoza Rodriguez, 52, of 140 Walnut St. in Coolidge, was charged Monday with DUI, driving without a license and head lights required.

• Lori M. Turner, 37, of 131 N. Pine Drive, was charged Tuesday with DUI, driving on the wrong side of a roadway and a seatbelt violation.



Other Incidents

Moultrie Police

• Roger Ruis reported someone threw rocks at his Honda Odyssey as he drove on West Central Avenue Tuesday.



Colquitt County S.O.

• Ophelia Dowdy, of Shade Murphy Road, reported someone stole her checkbook and forged an unknown number of checks between June 1 and 4:40 p.m. Tuesday.
