Man charged with pushing stepbrother

MOULTRIE — A Moultrie man was apprehended after he allegedly pushed his brother Monday night following an incident earlier in the evening.

Aaron Connell Ponder, 37, of 1108 Grant Court, was charged with simple battery (family violence).

A Moultrie police officer was called to a house on Grant Court at 10:58 p.m. Monday about a man with a gun. The officer met with Oswald Johnson, who stated his son, Reginald Holmes, and stepson Ponder and had “gotten into it.”

Johnson stated Ponder allegedly became further upset as he tried to pull Ponder and Holmes apart. Ponder allegedly pulled out what appeared to be a revolver but never pointed it at Holmes or used it in a threatening manner. Johnson blocked Ponder from getting to Holmes before Ponder left the scene, and Johnson stated he did not want to prosecute Ponder.

The officer was called back to the house about 11:40 p.m. Monday after Ponder allegedly returned. After returning, Ponder allegedly pushed Holmes in the face and allegedly stated “things were not over.” Ponder was placed under arrest and taken to Colquitt County Jail.
