2010 PBL Media Awards

Six second grade students were chosen at Doerun Elementary School to design a web page. They entered in the Georgia PBL (project-based learning) competition which was sponsored by Valdosta State University’s Educational Technology Center. Other participating school systems in the district were Ben Hill, Berrien, Brooks, Coffee, Lowndes, Valdosta, and Ware. Doerun Elementary won first prize in the district competition and then also won the state website competition. Their website was titled ‘Famous People in Georgia’s History’ and can be viewed at www.gaetcpbl.org. From the left are Jenna Furney, Jennifer Conaway and Ragan Harden. Not pictured are Joshua Berry, Raneisa Daniels and Blake Swords. The coaches for the project were Jennifer Hall, Doerun Elementary School teacher; and Melanie Turner, ITS.
