Autreyville Baptist Church gives to toy drive

Pictured in front of the Autreyville Family Christmas tree are children from Autreyville Baptist Church’s first through sixth grade Sunday school classes. They gave a box of toys to the toy drive sponsored by the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Department. Instead of exchanging gifts with each other, they brought a toy to be given away. The teacher of the first and second grade class is Peggy Bennett; of the third and fourth grade class, Ginger Merritt; and of the fifth and sixth grade class, Alana McCoy.

• Program helping African-American students succeed

  The African-American Male Initiative (AAMI) program at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College has reached a milestone with the highest number of students graduating from the program and earning a college degree since the inception of the program at ABAC. One of those is Moultrie native Enorris Hadley.

• Rowe gives program on Gloriana Daisies

  Faye Rowe, assisted by her great-granddaughter, Jailey Sellers, presented a program on Gloriosa Daisies, Rudbeckia hirta. There are several varieties ofthis daisy, and many colors. Some are tuberous, climbing perennials. Some are a strain of the black-eyed susan. Plants are erect and thick stemmed, and grow two to three feet tall.
