MOULTRIE —
On Saturday, Jan. 7, friends and family gathered at Gin Creek to celebrate the 60th birthday of Cobby “Carroll” Barfield.
The party was given by Cobby’s family — wife, Diane and two children, Cameron Barfield and wife Erin and Carrie Cochran and husband Lewis, who could not attend due to duty with the USMC at Camp LeJune.
Three generations of family attended including his grandchildren, Dylan Trammell and Lori Christine Cochran; brother, Harrell and wife Jane; nephew, Alex and wife Kaci; and niece, Mandy and husband Chris with their son, Benton.
Former students, high school friends, college classmates, and life-long friends spent time sharing memories.
The decorations were designed by Carrie Barfield Cochran and included a table for each decade of his life. Pictures and yearbooks helped tell the story. The music soundtrack for the day was provided by Cam Barfield.
A special gift was created by Erin Zebley Barfield, a photography and graphic designer. Old family photos of Barfield and his mother, Christine, were recreated using his daughter and her two children.
The family also placed a brick paver in downtown Moultrie in honor of him. More than 70 attendees enjoyed the menu of beef brisket, pork, chicken, and chili. At the end of the evening, guests gathered around a camp fire for s’mores and final memories.

Keeping a digital journal is priceless
Gardening journals are very important in documenting items of importance in the landscape. Whether the information is about the placement of a bulb, the color of a flower, the much-wanted plant from across town, the amount of rainfall last week, and so on, it is critical to realize such information to better improve how you design and maintain your landscape sites. If not recorded, then the potential for loss of such information is greater and makes your landscaping efforts more difficult!
