A semi truck loaded with cat litter overturned at about 1 p.m. on Thursday blocks Georgia Highway 111 near the Mitchell County Line. The Georgia State Patrol said that Jay Street turned left from Harmony Road into the path of the big truck. Street, 89, a WW II veteran who served in the Pacific Theater, seemed unfazed as he examined the Chevrolet camper whose rear end looked as if a bomb had exploded inside. The cab of the truck appeared to be undamaged. "This old man, he's tough," Street said. The female driver of the truck was taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center mostly as a precaution, officials on the scene said, and was released later in the day. In the photo at left, Street's camper is overturned on the side of the side of the highway.
